ThisCityRocks (and vlog production)

For some reason I’ve been watching a lot of vlogs lately. So much so that I hardly even turn on the TV anymore. Well, vlogs and torrents (to be honest)

Appart from the Discovery Channel, Eurosport and NGC I’m seriously dissapointed by the current TV programming so targeted, on demand shows clearly have the edge. It’s as if all the new cool shows appear on the net exclusively. Some hoping to eventually transition into the MSM, others may be in it just for fun and still others are hoping to start a successful business venture.

Amanda Congdon unfortunately quit the (formerly) super popular Rocketboom. We shall see how successful the new hostess is but I doubt they can bounce back as high.

ThisCityRocks is the latest vlog that caught my attention. Brought to you from Vancouver indie rock scene, broadcast via YouTube… I believe they’ve got a decent chance to make it (relatively) big.

Cheap and easy production, cool hosts and interesting content…again, who needs HDTV?
Why would anyone want to spend money on founding a local TV station with 100 viewers in “prime time”?  Get on the net you idiots! YouTube or Google Video are free, hosting is cheap and there are no licensing fees.

It’s gone so far for me that I’ve started thinking about producing a weekly show. But there’s just one problem… serious lack of audience (unless you do it in english).

What it all comes down to however, audience or no audience, is an appealing idea. You need that first…

Amazing comparison photo of the worlds fastest growing city.  How desert turns into a city in only 10 years.
