Demise of radio…

I couldn’t agree more… You only have to think for five seconds to figure out what’s wrong with radio these days – their playlists are nothing but a limited selection of mainstream music and advertising. When you hear a song played for the fifth time in 2h… that just won’t cut it.
It’s bearable if you only listen to the radio for an hour or two a week but more than that (as I’ve been forced to in the past few weeks) and it becomes very tiresome.

PS what’s the deal with sudden revivals of old one hit wonders? Ten, fifteen years after everyone forgot Mark Morrison and Peter Andre they’re back in powerplay. Who’s bright idea was that??!

Yes, in interest of full disclosure – at one point in my life I watched far too much MTV for my own good. Ohh. the shame…

Design is… part deux

Design is what you do to mess with functionality

This seems to be turning into a series… good practice and all.    The one above obviously (obviously)   deals with people who tend to over design for the sake of designing and forget that most things also have a function to perform. Evidence is all around you.

Fonts used: Lowdown & Yanone Kafeesatz (thin)

Design is… meme

OK, I normally wouldn’t be doing this but… I am. For some reason.
So, joining the ranks of Flickr pool and people who started the whole deal (Jon, Shaun, Veerle et al) here’s my contribution:

As you can see, I drew my inspiration during recent visits (in a bike messenger role) to design heaven – kindergardens.

I would have used Comic Sans (as the most widespread font in such design hostile environments) but I felt it would be to obvious (besides, someone else beat me to it).
