Repov kot 9/9/07

Repov kot
early sunday morning climb or… how I could not sleep.

Just one thing I should probably mention… the NVATLAS map hosted by ARSO (and provided by GURS) is wrong in several ways but one more critical (perhaps too strong a word) than the rest. That is – the beginning of the unmarked trail into Repov kot, specifically – the point where it separates from the popular marked trail up to Kamniško sedlo. The real trail (as opposed to the one on the map) begins slightly lower (see my edited version below). Not a big deal if you don’t mind a slight detour though.

Sigur Ros – Heima (& Iceland diving)

This video has been making the rounds in the past few days:

Superbly shot, excellent locations and some very fine music. And since youtube hardly does this video justice – here’s the original trailer.

I’ve watched it a few times already and every single time I get the urge to pack up and go to Iceland. And just so you know… Iceland is just as amazing underwater. Silfra…a crack in the earth’s crust where european and american tectonic plates meet and visibility is quite literally limitless… probably the most spectatular dive site on the planet.

NDR Silfra report on YouTube:

you can also freedive there…

I must warn you though…it is cold… ;)

Blue Hole Freedive

Now… where’s that hole and how do I get there? ;) I’m envious, he went below 55m without a suit. In somewhat more familiar conditions of the Adriatic that would be about 14-10°C. Not something you can adapt to very quickly coming from 25°C on the surface. In those kinds of temperatures even a shorty wetsuit isn’t really helpful.

Here’s one more video from that same location shot by the diver himself.
