ŠOUROCK 07, round 4

ŠOUROCK is one of those competitions for the best new rock group where you inevitably bump into some awesome talent and some… well, not so great talent.

All of them can play, mind you. However, not all of them can perform. And in my mind that’s the larger part of making a lasting impression on the audience (and I’m guessing the jury as well). People go to a live performance to enjoy themselves. I go there to take interesting photos and if all the band members stand there like statues without a hint of emotion or any visible effort it makes my job a bit tough. To be honest I usually stop taking photos altogether in such situations. It just isn’t worth it.

But on the other hand you have the bands that get the audience excited. Bands that turn the heat up and leave the ladies screaming. That’s when I enjoy taking photos. I might produce total crap because I’m enjoying myself too much but I just don’t care ;)

JR

On a related note (see previous post), I think I just found a new role model. This stuff is mindblowing!. Not just the 28 millimetre project, everything!

28 millimetres

A JR and Ladj Ly collaboration, a portrait of a parisian ghetto in 28mm. Excellent film, excellent photography, excellent idea, excellent guerrila tactics for the exhibit.

Lovin it…
