Whitespace

Jason Santa Maria started his own series of design theory tutorials with Under The Loupe #1: White Space

The title is pretty self explanatory and it’s a good read. I think  Ian sums it all up quite nicely in the comments:

If I had to make a white space analogy it’d be the one about going over that dude’s house who has every inch of his living room crammed with old computers and monitors and guitars and so much shit that you can’t even walk around. That, or breathing room.

When newspapers get it wrong

How should newspapers react when they jump the gun and publish information that’s clearly false?

Poynter Online posted a story about several newspapers that printed a version of their paper with big headlines saying the miners in Virginia were found alive before the news were confirmed. Unfortunately it didn’t happen that way (the last I heard 12 out of 13 were found dead).

Obviously there’s nothing much you can do about the papers once they are printed and sent out but I quite like the idea of an info box pointing to the latest developments on the website. That’s the least they could have done. Plus a big appology in the next issue of course.

To hell with everything…

There are days when words like: “I hate going to class” are elevated to a whole new level

fuck… Why, oh bloody why do I have to be here??
