Sandiline X-Race

Found out about the event at the last minute on Wave-Spirit and to continue in that same spirit (pun intended) I arrived at the last minute as well, missing most of the action.

I kind of expected to see Dulc & Mare hanging around with their cameras and sure enough…

What is considered…

…to be a good photo these days?

Seriously… that was a question I received today at the Sandiline x-race (more on that follows in another post). How do you respond to a question like that? Other than with a useless and ever so vague: “depends”.

I think she got it spot on when she came up with an answer of her own: “Something that inspires you”.

Something inspirational…

Cheap shots that are neither that good or that inspirational (except maybe to me as a recollection of the moment when I took them)

Silent poetry

silent poetry

As we were coming back from a dive and through the Split straits between islands Solta and Brac we were hit by a short rain storm so beautiful it has to be one of the best 30min of my life. The rain cloud seemed tied to the Brac side of the straits, swallowing one sailboat after another as we were approaching it from the southwest and it finally cut loose when we got near it.

Those moments were pure poetic simplicity. Millions of raindrops on the calm surface of the sea, rising mist obscuring our view of sailboats and coastlines nearby, thunder as background soundtrack…. words and photos cannot even begin to describe the situation.

I just hope Miro got some excellent shots out of it. It would be too brilliant footage to miss in the documentary.
